AIA UK Student Charrette

AIA UK hosts a yearly charrette for students enrolled in the second or third year of a RIBA-accredited Part 1 course. This one-day design competition brings together teams of Part 1 students from around the country to compete in an entirely analogue event in central London.

Students work without the aid of digital technologies to develop their ideas and proposals, and test their representational skills. Teams are mentored by practicing architects, and the event concludes with a juried design review. If you would like to volunteer to judge or mentor the student teams, please get in touch.

The charrette is run in London on a Saturday in the late autumn, and funding is available to help cover travel costs. Prizes are offered for the winning team and two runners-up, with the winning proposal being published and promoted across the AIA UK's social media channels.
