Noel Hill Award

We are pleased to announce that submissions for this year’s Noel Hill Student Research Award are now open!

This Student Research Award is offered in memory of Noel Hill, a founding member of the AIA UK Chapter. 

This award celebrates original and impactful research that advances architectural knowledge and reflects the enduring spirit of Noel Hill. It is presented annually to a Part 2 student that has undertaken outstanding and original research during their studies. The award is not limited by topic or location and offers up to £3,000 towards the continuation of independent research beyond the end of the academic year.

Eligibility

We welcome Part 2 students and recent graduates across the UK to submit.

Eligibility Criteria is as follows:

  • You must be currently be enrolled in a RIBA-accredited Part 2 course, OR

  • You must have graduated from a RIBA-accredited Part 2 course in 2026.

  • Membership in the AIA is not a pre-requisite.

  • You must be endorsed by your programme tutor/administrator.

  • Your research must align with the AIA Framework for Design Excellence.

  • Your research must represent an original work.

Deadline

All submissions must be received no later than Saturday April 18, 2026 at 05:00 PM GMT.

Entry Fee

Entries for the Noel Hill Student Research Award are FREE OF CHARGE.

Judging & Presentation

The award will be judged by a jury of practising architects and academics, and the winner will be announced at the Design Awards Gala on Thursday May 28, 2026.
