AIA UK 2022 Movie Night: Homo Urbanus Venetianus

AIA UK 2022 Movie Night: Homo Urbanus Venetianus

We are delighted to bring back our Movie Nights! This time we have Homo Urbanus Venetianus, directed by Ila Bêka & Louise Lemoine.

Date: Tuesday, 22 March 2022
Time: 19:00 - 21:00
Venue: BFI Screening Room, 21 Stephen Street, London, W1T 1LN

Description

After the trying constraints of lockdown and social distancing that brutally reduced urban space to its strict minimum, making it into a place where isolated individuals merely cohabit, Homo Urbanus is a cinematic odyssey offering a vibrant tribute to what we have been most cruelly deprived of: namely, public space. Taking the form of a free-wheeling journey around the world (10 films, 10 cities), the project invites us to observe in detail the multiple forms and complex interactions that exist every day between people and their urban environments. We are screening the 10th episode on Venice, named Homo Urbanus Venetianus.

The documentary directed by Ila Bêka & Louise Lemoine is centered around architecture and construction in relation with the water environment through the images of the successes and struggles of Venice’s architecture.
