Liverpool's architectural schemes at the beginning of the 21st century are dominated by the city's bid to become the European Capital of Culture in 2008.
The redevelopment of Mann island, the area between Albert Dock and Pier Head is a RIBA award-winning mixed-use development which reconnects Liverpool’s city centre to its historic waterfront.
In addition to the new sites and recent projects, we will be visiting the great wealth of the city’s architectural heritage which is rooted in the city’s development into a major port of the British Empire. This covers a variety of architectural styles of the past 300 years, including the Anglican Cathedral and The Roman Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral.
